INNOVA Architects was hired by the Seattle Tennis Club to perform a condition assessment of their existing outdoor swimming pool, built in the late 1950s, as well as the surrounding deck area and mechanical systems. Through the initial assessment, while working closely with the client, we were able to develop and help prioritize a list of wants and needs of the club. Some of the requests included: more deck space, an added lane for lap swimming, more efficient mechanical systems and a general update to the look of the pool and deck space.
Based on input from the owner, a scope of work was developed to include; repair, reinforcement and installation of active cathodic protection at the cantilever slab, demolition and reconstruction of deck slabs (structural slabs and topping slabs with waterproofing and drainage between), replacement of the existing gutter skimmer system with a continuous flush gutter system, reconfigured south wall (adding a swimming lane) and upgraded pool mechanical systems to accommodate added water volume. Accessibility around the pool and into the pool itself was also a priority for the Club, with a new ADA compliant lift area, pool access steps and ample deck space around the pool.
